Hiccups

Ciao everyone!

The room is quiet...with maybe only a dull lull of machinery or relaxed conversations.

And there you are, tending to whatever it is you needed to tend to.

And quietly, peacefully, you continue with your work.

Perhaps you're in a coffee shop or a library.

But then.. without your consent... rather loudly...

HICCUP. hiccup hiccup hiccup...


No more focus. Except on how to rid yourself of those darned things!

But what the heck are they, anyway??????

From the National Library of Medicine: "A hiccup is an unintentional movement (spasm) of the diaphragm, the muscle at the base of the lungs. The spasm is followed by quick closing of the vocal cords, which produces a distinctive sound."

Well, that pretty much answers it efficiently for me! Pretty weird, huh?

(And yes, I know what you're thinking about the picture... "Why a concerned baby?" Well, if you were a baby and heard a hiccup, you would probably have the same look. So it's there because....
Oh. I guess that didn't answer the question at all. Oh well. Still a cute baby. :P )
